Dunkeld, Scotland was the next race venue on Bens calendar, for the Scottish Champs run by the SDA. Travelling the 250 miles on the Friday meant Ben arrived in good time for a walk up and down the track, followed by a good nights sleep ready for what was to come.

Practice day, and Ben set off in good time to get on the first uplift wagon for a daunting first run down. The first section of the track is extremely steep in places and is also quite rocky, so a lot of the riders were stopping and watching how others tackled various drops, some better than others. Once the steep run down to the first road gap has been negotiated, it is straight into the woods where rocks are still in plentiful supply with slippery mud thrown in to make it a harder test. Pedalling where you can, short cutting over the large rock drops and you are soon within sight of the finish line, only a few more corners to go but these are full of roots, throwing you around, not always in the direction you want to go, before the final dash over the line.Ben Moorhouse
