2nd July and Ben is at Descend Hamsterley for some timed runs after the racing was cancelled due to lack of entries. Ben was second down the hill but the timing gear did not register him at the finish line, this was put right later when he got an extra run in.
Using the Main Line track with a few slight variations along the way, Ben put in two virtually identical times in the morning session, the first a 1 min 40.74 secs and the second a 1:40.53.
After a break for lunch the afternoon session commenced and Ben produced a time of 1:39.37. Using the run that he had from the earlier fault he put an improved time of 1:38.15 and beating his previous run by a clear second. This fast run put Ben 4 seconds ahead of second place in his category and he achieved 4th place overall on the day, only 6 seconds behind an expert rider who placed 1st overall.
