In January 2006 Ben was approached by Neil Dunkley and Jodie Hamilton, joint owners of Moonglu Performance Cycles from Ripon, and asked if he would like to ride for their team. Neil said he was asked because they could see he had a natural talent and a passionate approach to the sport, as well as having the full support and backing from his family.
Ben joined Moonglu and took up the responsibility of being their representative in the Downhill races. As part of the deal, Ben (with some help from his parents) took possession of a new race bike, a Nicolai M-pire ST custom built to his specification. To go with this his father has equipped him with all the associated bits including a gazebo and portable jetwash.
