Ben has been riding mountain bikes seriously since he was 10 years old. At first, Ben rode a lot with his father on cross country rides, almost immediately taking on the red and black routes designed for more experienced riders, and quite often leaving him behind on the tricky downhill sections. It was soon realised that mountain bikes were his passion as he went from strength to strength, spending countless hours in the woods building and riding jumps, see-saws and various other forms of North Shore.
Early in 2005, Ben paid a visit to Descend Hamsterley in County Durham, where there are purpose built and professionally run Downhill and 4X courses. This has since become almost home from home, for when he is not racing, this is where he spends time on a weekend practising and racing against friends from all over the North of England.
